On the stroke of midnight in between the 14th and 15th of August 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru of the Indian National Congress delivered his famous speech "Tryst with destiny' in front of the Indian Constituent Assembly. India had just awoken to freedom after years of slavery and oppression under colonial rule. The chains had been broken and a new-born baby delivered after years of painful labor. With it was born renewed hope and enthusiasm.
But times change. Sixty seven years later, we stand poised on the brink of history, ready to witness what could very well be the most important event of the new millennium. An event which could influence not only India, but the entire world as we know it. We have made a second tryst with destiny. We, the people of India have woken up after more than four decades of false promises, indecisiveness, corruption and nepotism.
We have made a unanimous choice. A resolve to march ahead: to a new heaven where all are treated equally and given equal opportunity to progress.
A journey of a thousand mile starts with a single step. Here we have taken the first step towards a new and vibrant future. Lets see where the future takes us.
